Seriously when did the media harping on about everyone being skint become a marketing ploy – the world’s gone mad I tell ya!

Opeth at Vicar Street

November 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have to admit I wasn’t sure what to expect when I was asked to shoot this gig seeing as Opeth have been described as fusing goth, death metal, prog and even jazz (seriously google them!!)  but with an open mind (and an incredibly heavy camera bag) I headed off to the gig – Vicar Street is a gorgeous venue and unsurprisingly everyone there (including me I have to admit) was clad in black!  The show went down an absolute storm – it was an over 14s show and it was absolutely packed so all in all a good gig – here’s one of the shots which didn’t make the final cut to be sent off- the best shots can be seen in next week’s Kerrang!

Yello Fever!

Tonight was the Second birthday party for Yello nightclub in Belfast – technically I didn’t start shooting till 1am so this was taken on Sunday but seeing as I hadn’t been to bed yet I’m counting it as Saturday!  It was a packed night with the club full in no time and plenty of opportunity to get photos of some colourful characters!

Watching men covered in baby oil and clad in spandex rolling around on top of eachother – now thats what I call entertainment! Here’s HBK Shawn Michaels giving JBL the ass kicking he so rightly deserved…

Been in this place so many times and never noticed this before – silly me! Class painting on the walls just as you go in – there are a few characters in it but this was my fave!

Smokin Rats

Took this in an old mill turned factory in West Belfast – there are lots of little businesses in the old building which is fairly delapidated but at least they haven’t lost their sense of humour!

We were in St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre today – I can’t believe they have all the christmas decorations up already – seriously it gets earlier every year! That said they are very pretty!

And no trip to Dublin would be complete without a photo of the Phil Lynott statue outside Bruxelles so here ya go! I didn’t look at all like a tourist standing taking photos of this ha ha! But I think its worth mentioning that Bruxelles has the best juke box in the world!

Hermano, Dublin

November 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

After an incredibly rainy day we turned up a bit soggy round the edges to see Hermano at the Andrew’s Lane Theatre in Dublin and they were amazing!  Such a good gig – they even did 2 Kyuss songs in their encore – including personal favourite Green Machine.  Check out edwinmcfee.wordpress.com for more about the gig!

Hot Stuff!

Open up the pages of the new issue of Hot Press and you’ll spy yours truly looking back at you (and its a rare occasion you see me on that side of a camera!) I’m well chuffed to be listed in the featured contributers section this fortnight right beneath Adele from Sons and Daughters, a band i love so that makes me even happier about it! Also have photos in from several gigs so go have a nosey… its the issue with Brian Cowen and Duke Special on the cover (vol 32 issue 22)

Also had a shot from the last Airbourne gig in the Belfast Telegraph with an interview by Edwin too (edwinmcfee.wordpress.com) – they’re back in Belfast next week so hoping for a repeat performance of Joel jumping off the stage and fighting his way through the crowd to pour himself a well deserved drink behind the bar!
