Not Squares

This was the last of the shoots for the AU Mag feature and we met in the Ormeau Baths Gallery this afternoon to do it.  Ended up with some nice quirky images.  All the bands in these shoots were great to work with and you can hear these guys at http://www.myspace.com/notsquares

Clown Parlour

This was the second shoot for the AU feature and this time I headed up to Lisburn to be met with the band, a cello, a double bass and a dog!  The shoot went great – for these shots I wanted to really capure the oldee-worldee feel of the band and therefore used sepia tones and faded colours in the shots.  This shot was by far my favourite – something a little different but totally in keeping with the feel of their music. You can hear them on http://www.myspace.com/clownparlour.

Mojo Fury

Started work on the first of 3 shoots for AU Magazine tonight  - they are running a huge feature on Northern Irish bands in their next issue and needed photos for a few of the bands – the first to be shot was Mojo Fury so I grabbed them after their sound check in the Black Box to get a few shots round the Cathedral Quarter area – this was my favourite from the shoot. Go have a listen at www.myspace.com/mojofuryband

Cool FM

Here’s a shot from a quick portrait shoot with Pete Snodden from Cool FM this morning for the next issue of Fate – I wanted something quite moody and a bit different from Pete’s usually really smiley shots so I  used side lighting and a dark grey background!

Duffy

Shot Duffy In St George’s Market last night – was really chuffed with the results really lovely lighting used for the gig.  Been debating whether or not to go with black and white for this shot but figured seeing as the mag will use the colour option I’d put the monochrome here.

Mr Gosh

kind of running with the comic book theme but this is one of the wee figures which sits on our telly!  I love Roman DIrge’s art its just the right mix of spooky and cute – Mr Gosh is a character in Lenore (if you’ve never read it stop looking on the internet and go buy it now its briiliant!!)

Dublin City Comic Con

Caught the train down to Dublin on Fri afternoon to cover the Comic Con.  It was a brilliant weekend – the guys on the panels were hilarious and so talented yet so modest with it.  Spent most of the 2 days snapping away so you can see the shots in the next issue of AU mag but here’s one sneaky preview of my favourite shot from the weekend – next year they need way more folk this brave!!

HULK SMASH!!

Heading down to the comic convention in Dublin this afternoon so in the spirit of all things comic related here’s the big green mean machine making another appearance in my blog (ok he’s not very big this one’s only 6 inches tall)!

Why everybody leave hulk?

Eat And Drink

The brief for this was to keep it minimal and striking so people would pick it up and it would stand out on the shelves so I discovered just how difficult shooting shiny reflective things is but I’m really pleased with the result…
